How I Got Started

The act of creating something that was not there - bringing something out of yourself, knowing that you can always do that is a very precious form of empowerment.

​In a difficult world with many pitfalls and surprises, this kind of self-reliance brings a confidence that is not dependent on approval from others.

I'm a person who had to develop a deep self reliance and a strong connection to transcendence.

I have been able to do that through the very simple media of paper and color.

I grew up in Poland. Every summer my family took off for the woods, mountains, or  the sea. The connection with nature, unbroken by overscheduling with activities so common now,  fostered a sense of freedom, timelessness, and developed a connection with myself. 

Yes, there were wonderful art teachers along the way but the scene was set early on.
